Time: LANG

Digitas CEO Laura Lang has been tapped to become Time, Inc.’s new chief executive, according to published reports. Lang, who joined Digitas in 1999, became its chief executive in 2008. Earlier, she was president of Marketing Corporation of America, consulted at Yankelovich Clancy Shulman, and worked in strategic planning for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and product management at Bristol Myers.

AZ: FANTE

The National Pharmaceutical Council announced that Rich Fante, president of AstraZeneca U.S. and CEO North America, was elected chairman of its Board of Directors for 2011-12. Fante has served on NPC’s Board since 2008, most recently as treasurer. Prior to his current role at AstraZeneca, he served as the company’s vice president, brand strategy and portfolio operations.

VR Labs: KOTTKAMP

VR Laboratories announced the appoint- ment of Jeff Kottkamp to the position of chief executive officer. Formerly, Kottkamp was Florida’s 17th lieutenant governor and chairman of Space Florida.

Galleon: DIETZ

Thomas Dietz, Ph.D. was elected chairman of Galleon Pharmaceuticals. Dietz is chairman and CEO of Waypoint Holdings. Previously, he was co-CEO and then CEO and a director of Pacific Growth Equities.

MTI: DEPINTO

MTI announced the appointment of Ken DePinto as vice president, strategic services. He joins MTI from BI Worldwide, where he was vice president of business development.

Atherotech: SCHILTZ

Sarah Schiltz was named vice president of market- ing at Atherotech Diagnostics Lab. Schiltz brings 25 years of marketing, sales and business development experience, including a strong background in cardiovascular disease markets. Most recently, she served as director of marketing and sales at diaDexus.

Publicis Touchpoint: GOOLSBY

Publicis Touchpoint Solutions announced that Michael Goolsby has joined the organization as vice president, business development. Previously, Goolsby served as vice president, sales at Victory Pharma.

Flaum: WEISBERG

Cari Weisberg, partner and director of strategy at Flaum Idea Group, will now also lead the firm’s advertising and product promotion division. Prior to joining the Flaum Idea Group, Weisberg served as executive creative director of DraftFCB and later as president of FEI Women s Health.

Advanced Clinical: LEWAND

Advanced Clinical appointed Michaelene Lewand as its new director of clinical operations. Lewand’s career spans over 20 years in the healthcare and clinical research industries. Most recently, she served as an associate director with Astellas Pharma.

SPBT: WELLS

The Society of Pharmaceutical and Biotech Trainers (SPBT) announced that Carol Wells has been elected president of its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2012. Wells has served as vice president of the SPBT Board since 2006, and she is senior director, commercial training and development at Genentech.

Cambridge BioMarketing: MERITT

Cambridge BioMarketing added Alyssa Meritt as a management supervisor. Prior to joining CB, Meritt was an account director on the Comcast account at One-to-One Interactive.

Abelson Taylor: COLLINS

Matt Collins was promoted to vice president, director of interactive technology at Abelson Taylor. Collins joined the agency in 2004 as an art director. Most recently, he was director of interactive technology.

Pacific Communications: WESTERVELT

Pacific Communications added Lindsey Westervelt as account executive. Westervelt holds a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design from University of Southern California’s Roski School of Fine Arts.

CMS: TAVENNER

Marilyn B. Tavenner has been nominated to become the next administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She has served as CMS’s Principal Deputy Administrator since February 2010 and as Acting Administrator of CMS from February to July 2010. Previously, Tavenner served as Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources.

CVS Caremark: MURPHY

CVS Caremark announced that Kevin Murphy has been named president of its Accordant Health Services, provider of disease management and case management services for people with rare chronic conditions. He joined CVS from Mercer, where he was a partner in the Human Resource Consulting practice.

Par: HAUGHEY and CAMPANELLI

Par Pharmaceutical promoted Thomas J. Haughey to president and Paul V. Campanelli to chief operating officer. Haughey had served as chief adminis- trative officer. Campanelli was president of Par’s generics division, a position he will retain. Both will report to Patrick G. LePore, the chairman and CEO.

MEDai: ZAJAC

Elsevier/MEDai, provider of predictive clinical ana- lytic solutions, named Thomas H. Zajac president. Zajac was formerly President of CareScience.
