AbelsonTaylor
AbelsonTaylor, the largest independent advertising agency in the healthcare field, has hired Ernie Torres to the position of senior art director and promoted Jose Gonzalez and Greg Nami to senior art director and art director, respectively. Ernie Torres will be managing products for the treatment of hemophilia and lymphoma and will report to Annie Barton, creative director. Jose Gonzalez will be working on products in the cardiovascular and oncology areas and reporting to Josh Vizek, creative director, vice president while Greg Nami, promoted to art director from associate art director, will be working across all accounts and report to Bradley Graetz, creative director.

American Medical
Group Association
Jerry Penso, M.D., M.B.A., is now the organization’s chief medical and quality officer, effective September 1, 2012. In addition, he will contribute to setting goals and objectives in concert with AMGA’s organizational strategic plan and serve as a member of the association’s Strategic Planning Team. Previously, he practiced as a family physician with Sharp Mission Park Medical Group for over 14 years.

Cadient Group
Cadient Group promoted Will Reese and Bryan Hill to new positions as managing partner and chief technology officer. As managing partner, Reese will serve in a dual role, overseeing Cadient’s strategic consultancy and managing the agency’s strategic, creative, media and insights and analytics teams. Hill will develop Cadient’s technology solutions and advance digital delivery capabilities in mobile and social. Both will continue to report to Stephen Wray, president and CEO.

Compliance Implementation Services
Kevin Espinoza joins Compliance Implementation Services (CIS) as Vice President. Prior to joining CIS, he was Deputy Compliance Officer for North America Pharma at GlaxoSmithKline. Mr. Espinoza will oversee consulting services and support to provide clients with compliance risk management solutions.

DTC Perspectives’
Buddy Scalera, senior vice president of Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, has been invited to serve on DTC Perspectives’ Advisory and eDTC Revolution Conference boards. DTC Perspectives is a pharmaceutical marketing publication that provides Direct-to- Consumer healthcare news. Mr. Scalera will provide strategic direction, feedback, and guidance to help DTC Perspectives’ improve their conferences and publica- tions. As an eDTC Revolution Conference Board member, he will aid in conference topic development and speaker selection, as well as react to the various presentations given during the conference.

Kancera
Professor Carl-Henrik Heldin was elected to Kancera’s Board of Directors. He has more than 380 scientific articles and 190 reviews and has been awarded prestigious research prizes in Sweden, France and the U.S. Professor Heldin is advisor to the biotech companies Kolltan Pharmaceuticals (USA) and MolMed S.p.A. (Italy). Heldin’s background includes advisor to several academic institu- tions including the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg and the European Institute of Oncology.

Medicus International
With more than 15 years of experience, Ed Cowen has joined as Managing Director of Medicus International. He previously served as director of education for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR). Cowen transitioned to marketing communications in 1996 and served in leader- ship positions at FCB Health- care and Lowe McAdams. He will be in charge of growing the brand and maintaining its network.

Pacific Communications
Pacific Communications has added Account Executives Mary Joan Arreglado and Emily Alford, who are joining the Juvéderm and Botox Therapeutic account teams. Arreglado was previously a senior account manager at LehmanMillet in Santa Ana, CA, while Alford was previously an account executive at 3v07 Advertising in Laguna Beach, CA.

Palio
Several people were promoted at Palio including Ed Decker, of Corinth, NY, to vice president, Chau Ho, to senior brand designer, and Uwe Tigör, MD, to executive vice president, chief medical officer. Each has been with the company for at least six years.

Precision Health Media
Named Allen Wyke to the new position of Chief Technology Officer. Wyke brings more than 15 years of ad technology experience to PHM. Most recently he consulted on digital and ad targeting strat- egies with startups and major media companies. Wyke will report to Bill Jennings, CEO.

Rosetta
After serving as acting leader since last year, Shannon Hartley has been appointed Vertical Leader for Rosetta’s Healthcare practice. Hartley, who will report to CEO Chris Kuenne, will be responsible for developing and guiding strategies, services, products and positioning of Rosetta’s healthcare industry. She previously led key accounts across the entire healthcare vertical.

WorldOne Interactive
Andrew Burns (formerly
SVP of Epocrates) and Jake Coniglio (formerly VP of Epocrates) joined Mike Marett (formerly EVP of Kyp) to launch WorldOne Interactive in Fall 2011. Most recently Eddie Berrang (formerly Account Director of Kyp) joined the team as Strategic Account Director. Berrang will focus on sales and business develop- ment of MedNOW (Media) and MedLIVE (Fast Response Market Intelligence).
