Tech to Help Reach Your 2024 Fitness Goals

If losing weight or just getting more fit is on your agenda for 2024 then you may be looking at investing in some new exercise gear. This is especially true for those who prefer to exercise in the comfort of their homes rather than go to a gym. If that fits your description, then check out some of the latest exercise tech to hit the market.

ZeroWheel: Reinventing the Fitness Wheel

The ZeroWheel is motorized version of the ab wheel, which is medium-size wheel with two handlebars sticking out on each end.ZeroWheel ($795 in Q1 2024) is a motorized, interactive, smart version of the ab wheel that offers five levels that range from substantial assistance to intense resistance—making it ideal to both assist beginners and challenge experts. The device is portable, lightweight, and can be used on a variety of surfaces to help you tone and train everything from triceps to calves to quads and more. And it links to the ZeroWheel app where you can track your progress, get personalized feedback, and explore different workout programs.

Zwift: Virtual Shifting on Any Bike

The Zwift Hub One resembles a bike stand that you can connect your bike to into to use it as a stationary bike indoors.If you don’t want to buy a full stationary bike, the Zwift Hub One ($599) is a smart trainer compatible with almost any 8-12 speed bike so you can simply connect the bike you already own to get your workout done indoors. Additionally, the Zwift Click can be mounted to your handlebars to allow you to take advantage of virtual shifting, which is normally only seen on smart bikes but would be available on any bike connected to this trainer. Virtual shifting eliminates the noise from changing gears making for a quieter ride.

WalkingPad: Double-Fold Treadmill

The WalkingPad G1 is a small treadmill that when folded up twice is the size of rectangular with dimensions of 40 x 29 x 11 inches.You may have seen a version of WalkingPad on TikTok where this treadmill folds not just once but twice, making it easy to store under a bed or couch if you have precious little space in your living area. The latest iteration, the WalkingPad G1 ($799), adds side handrails for users who may prefer the extra safety or support while walking, running, or jogging. King Smith Fitness, which manufactures the device, also recently released a tri-fold water rower and GYM BOX strength-training station to offer other space-saving exercise solutions.

Tempo: AI Strength Training

But in June, the company announced some upgrades to its platform utilizing biometric data from wearables, body scanning, 3D camera technology, and AI. For instance, an optional in-app body composition scan can establish a baseline for mapping progress. Other new features include a unique daily workout recommendation based on your Readiness Score created from your individual health data and a Dynamic Rest function that automatically pauses the class when your heart rate zone is too high.

Therabody: Cold, Heat, Contrast Therapy in One

Therabody, known for its Theragun muscle massager, now also offers the RecoveryTherm Cube ($149). Powered by the company’s proprietary Cryothermal Technology, the Cube is a compact, reusable device that delivers instant cold, heat, and contrast therapies to treat injuries, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and maximize muscle and joint recovery. You can choose between the cold, heat, and contrast options and either hold the device against your treatment area or use adjustable straps to secure it in place.
