New England Journal of Medicine Celebrates 200 Years of Publishing Excellence

Whether it’s a newspaper, a magazine or a medical journal, 200 years of publication is definitely something to celebrate, especially when that publication has had a compelling and lasting impact on medicine and health in America. On April 25, at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City, the New England Journal of Medicine—the oldest continually published medical journal in the world—commemorated its 200th Anniversary by hosting medical communications professionals at a party and program that included chamber music, special tours of the Morgan Library’s exhibitions, and a magisterial review—by editor-in-chief Jeffrey Drazen, MD—of NEJM ’s evolution from an occasional journal consisting mainly of accounts collected from other sources, through its acquisition by the Massachusetts Medical Society, to its current position as one of the leading forums of scientific medicine. Congratulations, NEJM!
