Changing How Healthcare Is Paid For
Since COEUS’ inception in 2009, Marc Hixson, CEO, has worked to offer services and technologies to help drive sustainable, long-term growth for the healthcare industry. His vision has catapulted COEUS and its five business units into double-digit revenue growth—year after year. COEUS’ strategy combines industry talent, proprietary Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms, and strategic acquisitions to change the way healthcare is delivered and paid for.
Marc saw the pricing pressures that rare disease drugs and services were having on the healthcare system. So, in 2019, Marc and his partners formed their first subsidiary, COEUS HealthCare. Building off COEUS’ rich expertise in developing innovative value- and outcome-based contracts, the company created COEBRA™, a technology platform to automate and manage those agreements. The next year, he added MIRADOR Global to broaden the company’s capabilities beyond the U.S. market while also founding COEMIRA, a full-service market access agency that works in tandem with the consulting organization.
Then in 2021, he founded COEUS Solutions to optimize clients’ commercial launches through system integration and analytics. By focusing on optimizing access and altering the way these therapies are covered and paid for, COEUS clients have begun to realize the path to long-term sustainability. The resulting organization ensures that COEUS is well positioned to help solve clients’ greatest challenges and ensure patients continue to have access to lifesaving therapies.
Built on a base of more than 185 loyal clients, including AbbVie, BioMarin, bluebird bio, Cytokinetics, Genentech, Gilead, Janssen, Medtronic, Merck, Novartis, and Sarepta, the company experienced its highest performing year in 2021. In addition to overall revenue growth across all five subsidiaries, a few additional highlights include: a 1,200+% increase in revenue from 2020 through 2021 for in-house agency COEMIRA; the addition of several new clients to COEUS HealthCare’s COEBRA™ platform; the acquisition of Afore, LLC by COEUS Solutions and the division’s subsequent launch of two SaaS technology platforms; and the addition of critical headcount and technology in finance, marketing, and IT.
