An Analytics Whiz

“Caitlyn Sell is an ELITE Data Miner through and through,” says Rachel Aldana, VP, Business Insights & Development of the Gastroenterology Business Unit at Takeda. “She has an exceptional interest in data, hunting down an insight, and bringing it to life through a story.”

Caitlyn joined Takeda in January 2020 as the Associate Director of SBS and EoE Data Analytics, but was promoted to Director, GI Rare Analytics in July 2022. Since then, Caitlyn has led the GI Rare analytics team through Takeda U.S. Business Unit organizational changes such as the OMNI data integration resulting in a 95% match of legacy HCP customers to new Takeda master data management customers, causing no disruption to the business. She also played an integral role in the adoption of Takeda’s Enterprise Data Backbone, partnering with Data, Digital & Technology (DD&T) and Commercial Operations to streamline GI Rare reporting, migrating to a new automated dashboard to bring rapid insights to the fingertips of sales and marketers.

Caitlyn was also instrumental in the evolution of the Gattex sales targeting, segmentation, and overall customer leads methodology. She embraced the opportunity to make a difference with an approach instead of following the status quo and using the same vendors. While there is risk with vendor/partner changes, she saw this as an opportunity to help the business. Over the first three months of data, her efforts led to an impressive increase in new patient starts—and she has instilled a belief in the methodology/approach with the sales team. “This will have a lasting impact for long-term execution,” Aldana says.

In addition to Gattex, Caitlyn has also established herself as a strategic partner to the Motegrity and darvadstrocel brand teams leveraging her analytics and operations expertise to meet patient and business needs. And she has built a team of three senior managers, each of whom are also trusted and valued partners of the GI marketing and cross-functional sales, patient services, and market access teams.

Prior to joining Takeda, Caitlyn led the Commercial Analytics for the U.S. and Global Women’s Health Portfolio at Merck, specializing in market access, payer, and reimbursement analytics.
