Microbubble Technology Revolutionizes Cell Therapy
Akadeum Life Sciences, a global leader in buoyancy-based cell separation technology, recently previewed the Alerion closed system for separating T-cells from a leukopak. Using Akadeum’s patented microbubble technology and a proprietary two-chamber consumable, the instrument accelerates cell separation, increases cell recovery, automates manual steps, improves sample processing, decreases user error, and reduces cell exhaustion. Akadeum’s new closed system instrument can be used with its negative or positive selection kits and takes less than 60 minutes to complete.
Current revolutionary treatments like CAR T cell therapy are prohibitively costly and force consumers to settle for mediocre performance from dated technology. The Alerion system promises higher performance and lower costs to improve accessibility.
Akadeum’s microbubble technology brings more robust cell separation workflows than magnetic-activated cell separation (MACS) and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) instruments and avoids the workflow constraints associated with magnets. The eco-friendly Alerion system offers unmatched scalability and productivity for T cell separation by processing more healthy cells per isolation and more isolations during a manufacturing shift.
