Vpak Media Launches Tru-Def

industry-briefs_1215As a company that provides innovative brand engagement tools for organizations including large multinationals, small privately held companies, not-for-profit organizations, government agencies and educational institutions, Vpak Media recently launched a new product, the Tru-Def Video-In-Print Screen Technology. It combines software and hardware, which, according to the company, significantly improves the user experience. Tru-Def is only available from Vpak Media in 4.0”, 5.0” and 7.0” sizes, but a 10.0” size is currently in development and anticipated to be released by the end of 2015.

The company won multiple awards for combining technology, design and packaging and the new technology is generating quite a buzz. According to Rich Weber, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, “We are very pleased by the response we have received.”

GSK Reveals Ambitious Drug Target

By 2020, GlaxoSmithKline anticipates 20 new drugs will hit the healthcare marketplace including drugs for HIV and other infections, respiratory diseases, cancers, immune-inflammation, vaccines and rare diseases. Seven new drugs are now in late-stage development and are expected to launch before the end of the decade. “We have profiled around 40 innovative potential new medicines and vaccines,” states CEO Andrew Witty, “which will support future growth in our pharmaceutical and vaccines businesses.”

Physicians Interactive Becomes Aptus Health

Aptus Health is now the new name of Physicians Interactive, which is extending into new markets and expanding offerings to address a growing need for integrated digital health engagement strategies for healthcare professionals and consumers.

George L. Howell of F.M. Howell and Company Passes

The revered philanthropist and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the 73-year-old organization, F.M. Howell & Company, recently passed peacefully at his home. A family business, Howell was the third generation to lead the company, growing its business from one division to three divisions, including services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Howell was active in many leadership positions for a number of organizations, both for-profits and non-profits. The company is a Women’s Business Enterprise offering related marketing services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, among others.

2015 Best in KLAS Medical Equipment Published

New vendor rankings and product segments were recently reported in the “2015 Best in KLAS: Medical Equipment,” which rates vendors over the past 12 months. Siemens distinguished itself as the year’s number one Overall Imaging Equipment vendor, while Omnicell became the Overall Pharmacy Automation Equipment vendor. However, Hologic Mammography was the top-scoring product—a distinction they’ve earned for several consecutive years.
