An article titled “Down Syndrome in adolescents,” published on March 28, 2017, misstated a recommendation about radiologic evaluation of the cervical spine in asymptomatic children. An American Academy of Pediatrics clinical report titled “Health Supervision for Children With Down Syndrome” states,“Routine radiologic evaluation of the cervical spine in asymptomatic children is not recommended. Current evidence does not support performing routine screening radiographs for assessment of potential atlantoaxial instability in asymptomatic children” (Pediatrics. 2011 Aug. doi: 10.1542/peds.2011-1605 ).
