mBC Unspoken (Gilead Sciences and Evoke MicroMass)
Women with metastatic breast cancer (mBC) feel left behind, abandoned, and betrayed by their bodies. mBC Unspoken is a collection of performances that demonstrates the richness and range of a person’s experience with mBC, free from toxic positivity and false hope, giving a voice to the women who often feel voiceless. It’s a showcase of untold or hard-to-tell stories, using art to make these stories more accessible.
To tell the stories of six brave women, Gilead Sciences and Evoke MicroMass enlisted the help of a Hollywood screenwriter and Academy award-winning director to turn those stories into dramatic performances from singer-songwriters, dancers, actors, and poets. Each was performed live and cinematically captured for the web in one epic day. mBC Unspoken was received with a rousing ovation, including from one of our judges who called it “off the charts with innovation.”
