GSK

Leading with Patient Focus

PM360 is not the first to recognize Maureen Seitz as a future leader. In fact, Maureen started her healthcare career with GSK’s Future Leaders Program, a competitive rotational leadership development program, and quickly established herself as a rising leader with a patient-centric mindset.

As part of the GSK Future Leaders Program, Maureen gained exposure to sales, marketing, and human resources, giving her an opportunity to champion patients and customers throughout her tenure with the company. She managed a sales territory, specializing in type 2 diabetes and COPD. She honed her marketing leadership skills working on a novel vaccine product launch and a respiratory portfolio campaign—activating the first-ever multichannel marketing portfolio campaign at GSK U.S. Pharma. And, she put non-profits and the people they serve at the forefront of her experience leading GSK’s Global Volunteering initiatives. Such initiatives included leading the global employee Volunteer Ambassador Network of 250 employees and the launch of the Employee Choice GSK IMPACT Awards, resulting in 10 non-profits each being selected for a $10,000 award.

After completing the Future Leaders Program, Maureen was assigned to lead Agency Relations and Management for GSK U.S. Pharma and ViiV, where she directed a roster of more than 60 agencies to ensure effective delivery of services to GSK brands. In her current role on the Oncology Patient Marketing team, Maureen leads all disease state awareness efforts for a drug candidate in multiple myeloma. As a key member of the launch brand team, she applies her prior experience and passion for patient advocacy to support people living with an incurable disease, providing them with resources and information to manage their treatment journey.

Maureen has also taken her patient passion outside the workplace as a marathon runner. As she takes on her next marathon in Chicago, she will be running on behalf of Imerman Angels, a non-profit organization which enables one-on-one support for cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.

Through her experiences, Maureen knows that success as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry will always mean putting patients first and she hopes to continue to support patients as she continues her work with GSK.
