Bringing a Creative Twist to Med Affairs

Medical Affairs may be all about the science, but Marie Oglesbee is proving you can be a little creative in how you get that information to HCPs. As the Associate Director, Medical Digital Strategy, Marie is responsible for advancing the use of digital channels to support scientific exchange and medical education activities. She works closely with the Medical team to help develop a focused and cohesive medical strategy and tactical plan, identifying opportunities to embed digital to achieve strategic goals.

Her most recent endeavor was leading the launch of a centralized medical affairs portal to provide HCPs with a trusted source of reliable information on UCB products and disease areas of focus. The portal provides the latest and most relevant information, including select scientific presentations, publications, medical information, disease education, and more—making it a valuable resource for HCPs to access information to help support informed decision-making, thereby enabling better outcomes for patients. An additional feature within the portal includes the ability for HCPs to identify and request a remote or face-to-face meeting with their UCB Medical Science Liaison. Currently, the portal is focused on immunology and contains content related to dermatology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology.

Beyond the portal, Marie also led the development of two educational podcast series which invite medical experts, scientists, and patients to discuss advances and unmet needs in inflammatory autoimmune conditions. The first, “Joint Perspectives,” is designed to explore the science behind spondyloarthritides, including non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis. The second, called “PSOrting It Out!” explores advancements in the understanding of the pathophysiology and management of psoriasis (PSO) and will launch later this year.

For both the medical portal and the podcasts, Marie is already thinking about what’s next. She is working currently to implement custom analytics and reporting capabilities to gain insights that help drive strategic decisions regarding content development and inform future optimizations to the portal, and more. Ultimately, the goal is to serve as a valued and trusted partner to HCPs, understand their needs, and create an experience that enables them to deliver value to their patients.
