Patient Engagement at a Global Scale

Kathy Barry has been a pioneer in bringing patient engagement to the global stage. She built SNOW’s global team while based in Munich, Germany and has been able to offer transformative programs to clients in formats that are customized for the global biopharma audience.

Kathy has successfully built lasting relationships with clients ranging from big pharma to innovative biotech. Her global portfolio includes AstraZeneca, GSK, Takeda, Alnylam, EMD Serono, Roche, Neuraxpharm, Avrobio, ViiV, Moderna, Otsuka, Novartis Gene Therapies, and Janssen. Earlier in her career, she has also built groundbreaking programs with Shire, Grünenthal, UCB, bluebird bio, Ultragenyx, Alexion, Pfizer, Amicus, and Roche to name a few.

Kathy paved the way for innovative patient engagement initiatives in neurology and rare disease, including patient support summits and experiential workshops for epilepsy and MS, as well as “Meeting In-A-Box” programs and innovative press kits tailored for global organizations advocating for people living with rare diseases. With her impressive work in Europe, Kathy paved the way for similar programs in Asia, Australia, and South America.

“As a connector, Kathy always finds formal and informal ways to build a solid network of patient-centric stakeholders, allies, and prospective team members,” says Oliver Portmann, VP, Communications, Snow Companies. “As a leader, I find her quick-witted, resourceful, and very determined and passionate about what she is doing. She never loses sight of the reason our job is so critical: knowing that each patient is special and that their own unique perspectives help shape the rare disease landscape.”

Throughout her career, Kathy’s leadership has been a key component to helping individual team members grow, feel empowered, and be successful, allowing room for each person to challenge themselves in a competitive market but always willing to discuss or tweak an execution plan to set people up for success. Most importantly, her ability to understand and navigate the complexity of connecting patients from all over the world and make sure the authentic community voice is heard—all while adhering to a myriad of global compliance and regulatory systems—has served as an inspiration for SNOW employees to meet the high standard she has set.
