Quality reporting data – or lack thereof – will trip up physicians this year because those who did not comply with the Physician Quality Reporting System will see a 1.5% cut to their Medicare pay. An expert weighs in on why physicians may have trouble complying with the program’s requirements.
But PQRS, and some of the other sets of federal quality measures, soon will be rolled up into CMS’s new focus on value-base payments in Medicare. At the annual meeting of the American College of Physicians, outgoing President Dr. David Fleming discussed concerns over the relatively short transition period – and announced ACP’s efforts to provide physicians with tools and guidelines to make that transition.
In other news, Montana has enacted a first of its kind, ACA-based Medicaid expansion program – so unique that a federal waiver is needed to move forward. And the ACA’s contraception mandate is back under judicial scruitiny.
