Women In Bio Announces that Alpna Seth Joins Bio-Techne’s Board of Directors

Boardroom Ready Program’s Tenth Board Appointment of its Women graduates

NEW YORK, Nov. 07, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Women In Bio (WIB), an organization of professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship of women in the life sciences, announced today the tenth placement of a female executive to a life sciences company board as part of its Boardroom Ready program.  WIB launched Boardroom Ready in 2016, with the goal of helping executive women achieve corporate board service. LifeSci Advisors, founding sponsor of the Boardroom Ready program, has been instrumental in making several board placements for the program.

WIB is delighted to share that Alpna Seth, Chief Operating Officer at Vir Biotechnology, Inc., has joined the Board of Directors of  Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ:TECH), a leading developer and manufacturer of high quality purified proteins––notably cytokines and growth factors, antibodies, immunoassays, as well as biologically active small molecule compounds and ADC’s in situ hybridization detection products.

“I’m thrilled to have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Bio-Techne, which impresses me with its management team and extensive product portfolio that bring researchers closer to the clinic by leveraging diagnostic and bioprocess applications,” said Dr. Seth. “This is a fantastic time to be working with Bio-Techne as it expands globally with new and innovative research tools to deliver more complete solutions through a greater diversity of technologies.”

Alpna Seth, Ph.D., is Chief Operating Officer at Vir Biotechnology. Vir integrates diverse innovations in science, technology, and medicine to transform the care of people with serious infectious diseases. Previously, Alpna worked at Biogen over 19 years in roles of increasing responsibility across Program & Alliance Management, Commercial, Strategic/ Portfolio Planning and General Management, including most recently as Senior Vice President and Global head of the Biosimilars business for Biogen with International headquarters in Switzerland. Before joining Biogen, she was a management consultant in the health care industry. Seth obtained a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed post-doctoral research at Harvard University in Immunology and Structural Biology. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program (AMP) and has served as a guest lecturer at Harvard Business School and Harvard Medical School.

“We are incredibly impressed by the background in the biopharmaceutical industry and extensive knowledge of critical areas of science of Boardroom Ready graduate Alpna Seth,” said Dawn Hocevar, President, Women In Bio. “WIB is proud to be hosting this valuable executive program and continue to focus our efforts toward helping Boardroom Ready graduates make meaningful connections, with the goal of getting placed on corporate boards and furthering gender equity in the C-suite.”
