NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mona Mansour, MD, MS, is welcomed to the Board of Physicians by the American Health Council. Dr. Mansour is currently the Director of Primary Care and School Health in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), where she has worked for 25 years. Her areas of expertise pertain to Primary Care Pediatrics, Asthma and School Health. She is also proficient in Healthcare System Redesign, Quality Improvement, Care Management Models, and Patient-Centered Medical Home.
With an interest in General and Community Pediatrics, Dr. Mansour started her education at the University of Cincinnati where she received her Doctorate Degree in Medicine. Following her graduation, she was offered a Residency at the Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital. After the completion of her Residency, she stayed with Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital as Chief Resident and would go on to take a Fellowship within the General and Academic Pediatrics’ Division that supported completing her Masters of Science at the University of Cincinnati, before becoming the Director of Primary Care in that division.
Growing up with an OBGYN for a father and a Public Health Nurse for a mother, influenced Dr. Mansour’s future in medicine. She grew up to be passionate about serving the underserved within her community. When she chose to work in Pediatrics, she saw how much of an effect she can truly have on both her patients and their families. Having health care professionals in her family enhanced her level of support and made a substantial impact on her life. She thanks her family for their relentless encouragement and she is also thankful for their influence on her own determination.
Dr. Mansour oversees all operations in the primary care clinics and general pediatrics at each of the hospital’s locations. She also supervises the individual Medical Directors and helps define quality improvement goals and projects for the Division. She leads new initiatives for her hospital related to health system redesign and alternative payment models. She runs several different population health and community health programs which aim to reduce disparities in healthcare for more vulnerable or impoverished populace. In hopes of success, Dr. Mansour collaborates with a number of community partners and organizations. She is a member of a number of professional organizations including the Academic Pediatric Association, the Cincinnati Pediatric Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
To personally give back to her community, Dr. Mansour is an avid donator to many well-received charities. These organizations include the United Way, the March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Doctors Without Borders, and local food banks and other various organizations within her region. She helps to fundraise and is co-medical director for an annual asthma camp at Camp Joy, Camp Superbreathers, for children from urban, underserved communities.
Dr. Mansour is Board Certified in Pediatrics since 1995. She has also published several articles that she has cultivated from her own clinical studies. Due to her many professional accomplishments, Dr. Mansour has been named Regional Top Doctor by Cincy Magazine and won the Clinical Achievement Award from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Within the next few years, Dr. Mansour wishes to continue transforming primary care systems to meet the needs of their patients and families, while providing quality outcomes and reducing costs. She also is working to develop a community-connected primary care model that addresses social determinants of health and reduces disparities. Dr. Mansour wishes to transform care delivery in the context of changing the health care payment landscape of value versus volume-based care.
When she has time to herself, Dr. Mansour likes to read a good book, hang out with friends and family, and travel.
