Tech for the Great Outdoors

Summer isn’t over yet, which probably means you would like to spend less time in front of your computer and more time in the great outdoors. But you don’t necessarily have to leave technology behind to fully enjoy life under the sun. These gadgets can help make the time you spend outdoors a little more comfortable, safe, and less labor intensive.

Jackery: Fast and Powerful Solar Energy

Jackery is known for its portable power options that help keep your devices running even when you are off the grid. Its latest is the Solar Generator 2000 Pro ($3,599 and up) with 2,160 Wh capacity, 2,200W AC power, and 4,400W peak power to deliver the fastest solar recharging yet for Jackery. The power station can be fully charged using six solar panels in under 2.5 hours or just two hours via AC wall outlet. So, plenty of renewable energy to power your pellet smokers, mini coolers, eBikes, refrigerators, or whatever else you take on your outdoor adventure.

Mammotion: Robot Lawn Mower

If you want to cut down on yard work, so you have more time to actually enjoy the summer weather, then you might want to consider a robot lawn mower. One of the newest models is Mammotion’s Luba ($2,499), which unlike most robot lawn mowers doesn’t require the installation of a perimeter wire in your lawn. Instead, using an app you can walk along the boundaries of your property with the Luba to map out the cutting-zones. Luba also has four ultrasonic radars to detect obstacles and an anti-theft system to alert you if it leaves your geofence.

Thermacell: Mosquito-Free Backyard

Thermacell offers a variety of solutions to keep the mosquitoes away in sizes ideal for personal use, camping, and your home. The LIV Smart Mosquito Repellent System ($699 to $899) is for the latter, with three kits that can help keep your entire backyard free of mosquitoes. The kits come with three, four, or five repellers, which each cover a 20-foot radius. The repellers use heat-activated, people- and pet-friendly repellent cartridges that diffuse into the air and can last up to 40 hours. Additionally, a Smart Hub connects to your WiFi so you can control the repellers through the LIV+ App.

EcoFlow: Air Conditioning for the Outdoors

Even if you enjoy camping, during hot and humid nights you might miss the comforts of AC. The EcoFlow Wave ($1,499) is a portable air conditioner that weighs just under 40 pounds and provides eight hours of run time. It is meant to cool small spaces, such as a tent, RV, or small cabin, and can lower the temperature in an 86ft² space from 84oF to 75oF in eight minutes. It can be charged in a variety of ways, including wall sockets, portable power stations, car charging, and solar panels.
