RowdMap Inc. Joins CVS, Walgreens, Harvard Medical School to Speak at ConvUrgentCare Strategy Symposium on the Evolution of Primary Care

PHOENIX, Ariz., Dec. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — via PRWEB – Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at RowdMap, Inc., will be speaking at the ConvUrgentCare Strategy Symposium, which will be held in Scottsdale, AZ, January 23-25, 2017. The ConvUrgentCare Symposium hosted by Merchant Medicine. The invitation-only event is in its 9th year and brings together senior executives from health systems, private urgent care and medical groups with an interest in planning for future: http://bit.ly/2hqJ4Bh

The focus of the upcoming symposium is the evolution of consumer experiential design and the emergence of on-demand healthcare as a network foundation. Retail clinics in stores such as Rite-Aid and Walgreens will be addressing their partnerships with health care systems as one notable trend in the delivery of care is the push towards on-demand access. It is estimated that about half of primary care providers will be practicing in an on demand setting in the next ten years.

Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at RowdMap, Inc., will be speaking on the role of primary care and urgent care as payment models change from fee for service to value-based economic models. Specifically, as the health plans and provider systems move to deliver more high-value care, we are seeing a push to deliver care at lower intensity levels. For primary care physicians, this means they can be substantially compensated for practicing at their top of their licenses and effectively coordinating care downstream by intentionally referring patients to specific specialists,” said Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at RowdMap, Inc.

Providers have powerful resources to make this transition. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has now released the largest data set in the history of the United States, covering virtually every provider, with years of longitude. HHS has also released referral and patient flow information, which shows how patients move from urgent care and primary care providers to specialists, hospitals and event post acute treatment, effectively providing not only the costs and quality of providers downstream but also the value of the chain of care along a pathway from a clinic to more costly and intensive care setting. “Using the government benchmark data about where you are sending your patients, and the impact that has on your pay-for-value arrangements, is playing an increasingly important role in the coordination of care that primary care providers are delivering in new economic models,” said Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at RowdMap, Inc.

This theme is expanded upon in the ConvUrgentCare Report, recently published by Merchant Medicine. The article, entitled “The Changing Face of Primary Care Medicine”, by Tom Charland, CEO of Merchant Medicine, is an overview of the evolution of primary care in a world of ‘consumer-driven care’. Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, was featured in this article, alongside Anthem, Carolinas Healthcare System and American Family Care discussing the evolution of primary care and the influence of publicly available, government data on healthcare.

About RowdMap, Inc:

An Ernst and Young EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® winner, RowdMap’s Risk-Readiness® benchmarks help health plans, physician groups, and hospital systems identify, quantify, and reduce no-value care that physicians deliver- a central tenet of successful pay-for-value programs.

Through practice patterns and referral analysis, RowdMap’s benchmarks identify the health care entities that manage unwarranted and unexpected variation in care. This variation leads to more than $850 Billion in no-value care annually. Payers and physicians use RowdMap’s physician and population health benchmarks to create strategies that put these highest performing physicians at the center of networks and then design products, organize clinical programs, and coordinate sales and marketing around them.

RowdMap’s platform comes preloaded with benchmarks for every physician, hospital, and zip code in the United States- no IT integration required. RowdMap’s Risk-Readiness® Platform works across all market segments and has significantly larger returns than traditional medical economics approaches.
