Proximity Systems Announces New UV-Clean Self-Disinfecting Technology

TOMBALL, Texas, Feb. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Proximity Systems, Inc., the leading provider of innovative technology furniture solutions to healthcare, today announced its own Proximity UV-Clean self-disinfecting technology, which helps reduce the transmission of infection pathogens in healthcare environments.  Proximity has incorporated UV-Clean into the Classic SD and Embrace SD self-disinfecting (SD) cabinets, which reduce bioburden on hospital surfaces around the clock, independent of human intervention.

The Proximity UV-Clean technology will be on show in booth 6229 at HIMSS 2018, March 5 to 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Proximity UV-Clean self-disinfecting technology delivers low levels of UVC light that damages the DNA of pathogens, effectively eliminating their ability to reproduce. Proven to kill up to 99.9% of infectious diseases when combined with important hand-washing protocols, UV-Clean gives hospital employees the peace of mind that all high-touch surfaces are being treated all the time.  The UV-Clean technology is designed to attach to a monitor screen, insert into any wall mounted workstation or as a free-standing keyboard application.

Hospitals are under increasing pressure to reduce opportunities for nosocomial transmission from device workflow.  The UV-Clean technology automatically eradicates superbugs multiple times a day. All units include a built-in LED light to assist in low light areas. With the Proximity UV-Clean technology, hospitals and staff benefit from cleaning processes that are:

Aware – Sensors continuously monitor device interactions and alert UV-Clean to suspend cleaning activity whenever a clinician interacts with the cabinet, then resume cleaning once that person goes away.

Safe – Once a cycle is initiated, a low dose of UV-Clean is delivered to the target surface. Each dose is set to a safe and optimal disinfection wavelength

“On any given day, one in 25 hospital patients acquires at least one healthcare-associated infection (HAI).  More than half of all HAIs occur outside of the intensive care unit, and four percent of admissions acquire HAIs,” said Jeremy Goza, CEO, Proximity Systems, Inc. “Proximity understands the challenges that hospitals have when trying to enforce infection control policies.  That is why we are proud to announce that we have created our own UV-Clean technology that is available as a component of our wall mounted workstations, or as a stand-alone product.”

Proximity’s wall mounted workstations, strategically placed in patient rooms, ER’s, ICU’s and other frequented areas, make sure data is always at caregivers’ fingertips.  In-room cabinets and workstations save time and effort, allowing hospital staff to focus energy on what is important – providing the best care to their patients.
