AMPIO: MACALUSO

Ampio Pharmaceuticals appointed Michael Macaluso chief executive officer. Macaluso, current chairman of the Ampio Board of Directors, previously served as CEO, managing the turn-around at Isolagen from August 2001 until September 2004. At Isolagen, Macaluso transformed a company facing bankruptcy into one with a market capitalization in excess of $300,000,000. Macaluso then became the lead investor in DMI BioSciences, the predecessor company to Ampio.

SAVIENT: VEITCH

Savient Pharmaceuticals appointed David Veitch president of Savient Europe, reporting directly to John H. Johnson, CEO and president of Savient. He will be responsible for leading Savient’s European regional organization and driving the future growth of Krystexxa. Most recently, Veitch served as senior vice president of European Marketing & Brand Commercialization at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he was responsible for leading the brand commercial organization for Europe across all disease areas and generating sales of $4 to $5 billion.

CAMBRIDGE BIOMARKETING: FRANCO

Cambridge BioMarketing (CB), a healthcare marketing communications agency focused on orphan and specialty pharmaceuticals, named industry veteran Maureen Franco chief strategy officer and partner. Previously, Franco occupied executive leadership roles in commercial development, product marketing, global brand management, and product promotions at Genzyme in Cambridge, most recently VP of Global Marketing in the rare genetic disease division.

ROSKA: SINGH, TAYLOR, and COHEN

Roska named Anupam Singh vice president of Integrated Strategy, Lauren Taylor account supervisor, and Krista Cohen account executive. In his new role, Singh will lead the agency’s integrated approach to marketing, with a heavy emphasis on digital. Previously, he oversaw enterprise- wide digital strategy for domestic and global clients at Digitas. Taylor will take the lead in developing multichannel patient marketing programs in support of a new oncology launch. Previously, she held project management positions at Euro RSCG Life Catapult, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and cds creative. Cohen will develop multi-lingual communications, targeting Asian American HCPs and consumers. She joins Roska from BGB New York and Rosetta Marketing Group.

PACIFIC COMMUNICATIONS: MARTIN

Maáza Martin was named program manager at Pacific Communications, where she will manage strategic communications for the Restasis brand. Martin was previously a market planning manager for Genentech. She holds a master of science in biochemical engineering from Thayer School of Engineering and a bachelor of arts in bioengineering from Dartmouth.

QFORMA: McGUINNESS

Qforma announced the appointment of Ian McGuinness to the position of vice president, Business Development. Previously, McGuinness spent nine years at IMS Health, formerly SDI, most recently as a senior sales executive. Before that he worked in financial services at Merrill Lynch, before moving into data warehousing and business analytics at Hired Brains.

INSPIRATION: LEVY, REGAN, HADAS, and TUBRIDY

Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals expanded its leadership team with four key hires. Howard Levy, M.D., Ph.D. was named chief medical officer. Levy previously served as chief medical officer at Sangart and before that was associate VP, Clinical Research, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, at Novo Nordisk. Daniel Regan was named chief commercial officer. Regan was previously general manager, senior VP of the U.S. Personalized Genetic Health business unit at Genzyme, where he led multifunctional teams combining sales, marketing, and commercialization and worked extensively in Europe, Latin America, and Asian/Pacific markets. Nikki Hadas was named general counsel. Hadas was previously senior corporate counsel at Genzyme, where she provided corporate legal support for Genzyme’s Personalized Genetic Health, Renal, Endocrine and Cardiovascular business units. Karen Tubridy was named vice president and Factor IX launch team leader. Tubridy most recently served as executive director, Clinical Operations and Regulatory Affairs, Translational Medicine at Alexion and at Taligren before its acquisition by Alexion. Tubridy has over 20 years of experience in directing global clinical programs, developing regulatory and clinical strategies, and leading development programs of novel and first-in-class biologics and monoclonal antibodies.

ABELSONTAYLOR: VOIGT, CHEE, LOCKNER, and MORAN

AbelsonTaylor has hired Bekah Lockner as manager of social media marketing and Brian Moran as interactive developer. Erich Voigt was named art director, digital and Emily Chee mock-up artist. Lockner will advise the agency’s account teams on all social media campaigns and will direct AbelsonTaylor’s own presence in social media. Previously, she was a digital account supervisor at Fleishman-Hillard, Chicago, where she developed and implemented the social media strategy for Gatorade, ConAgra Foods Foundation, Abbott Nutrition, and the Allstate Foundation, among others. Moran, an expert in computer technology, will be working on interactive programs. Moran was previously a software developer at the Apollo Casualty Company, where he developed the nTools framework and maintained the company’s internal and external communications systems. Voigt will be working on Interactive Visual Aids and digital tactics. Previously, he was senior interactive art director at ARS Interactive, a digital agency in Palatine, Ill., where he worked on strategy, design, and art direction for an e-commerce platform launch. Voigt, 26, is the recipient of a GD USA American Graphic Design Award. Chee spent the last two years as a freelancer for several Chicago-based marketing, advertising, and branding firms, including AbelsonTaylor, Ragan Communications, Core Marketing, and Compass Media Group. —Lauren Genovesi
