Renowned Oncologist Joins Kinex

Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, MD, FACP, joins the oncology specialty biotech company as Chair of its Clinical Advisory Committee. Currently serving as Physician-in-Chief at the Translational Genomics Research Institute and Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, he and his team are focused on developing new anticancer treatments for patients with pancreatic cancer. Additionally, he serves as the Chief Scientific Officer for U.S. Oncology for Scottsdale Healthcare’s Clinical Research Institute. Chief Medical Officer of Kinex, Dr. Rudolf Kwan commented, “[Dr. Von Hoff’s] contributions to clinical investigation successes…will prove invaluable to a number of our existing and planned clinical efforts, including Oraxol and Oratecan.”

Industry Veteran Appoints President and CEO

Chicago-based privately held pharma company focused on developing new molecules and improving the effectiveness of existing medicines, Medac Pharma announced that Terri Shoemaker is President and CEO. Under her leadership, Medac will focus on autoimmune diseases and oncology, and guiding the development of their lead product candidate, which will optimize methotrexate. Her leadership and accomplishments in biotech and pharma spans 25 years beginning with leadership positions at DuPont Pharma for 15 years, then Pharmion Corp., co-founding BioPharm Strategic Solutions in 2009, and then serving as Vice President of Sales at Intermune, a biotech company, where she developed a large-scale infrastructure in preparation for the launch of a new treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Caldera Pharma

Timothy C. Tyson, Chairman of Aptuit, a contract research organization, has been appointed to Caldera’s Board of Directors. Tyson served as CEO of Valeant Pharma, and held senior executive positions at GlaxoSmithKline and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Tyson graduated from the U.S. Military Academy with an MPA and Jacksonville State University with an MBA.

Daiichi Sankyo

The pharma company has replaced President and CEO and head of its Commercial Division, John Gargiulo with Dr. Glenn Gormley as corporate President and Chairman. Dr. Gormley will also continue in his current role as President, Daiichi Sankyo Pharma Development, Global Head of R&D and Senior Executive Officer of Daiichi Sankyo. Greg Barrett, VP, Marketing and Managed Markets at Daiichi Sankyo, has been appointed to the new position of Acting President for the company’s Administrative and Commercial Operations.

Roska Healthcare

The independent healthcare communications agency hired three new team members: Mary Rose Rogowski, Associate Creative Director, Art; Carol Greco, Medical Editor; and Jennifer Brog, Designer. Halen Van Dang was promoted to Group Art Supervisor. Roska’s recent hires to the creative team were made to meet growing client demand.

Decision Resources Group

Healthcare Research and advisory firm hired Courtney Morris as the Executive Vice President of Solutions. Morris will be responsible for driving product strategy, innovation and marketing. He comes from Truven Health Analytics, formerly the healthcare business of Thomas Reuters, where he recently served as Senior Vice President, Solutions Management.

F.M. Howell & Company

The marketing services group of the packaging company headquartered in NY hired Marc Chester as Strategic Account Manager. Chester will be responsible for selling drug sample fulfillment and distribution services to their pharma and life sciences accounts. He most recently served as Vice President, Sales and Business Development with software developer, Data Reduction Systems.

inVentiv Health

The Health Communications’ Digital and Innovation team in the London division hired Emma D’Arcy, a medical biochemist with 18 years of pharma experience, to head Participatory Medicine, an emerging model of healthcare. She will work with clients to apply principles of participatory medicine to increase the success of new product launches.

Ben Atkins joins the Chandler Chicco Companies in Los Angeles as co-lead. He will focus on designing social experiences that help brands and organizations promote behavior change.

MiMedx

A manufacturer and marketer of patent-protected regenerative biomaterials and bioimplants, announced the hire of Dr. Gary Stanziano as Vice President of Medical Affairs. He will interface with health plans to facilitate broader reimbursement for MiMedx products.  He recently served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Matria Health.

PatientPoint

This innovator of patient and physician engagement solutions at point-of-care appointed Geeta Nayyar, MD, MBA, as Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). A board-certified practicing physician and recognized healthcare information technology leader, Dr. Nayyar will be responsible for driving PatientPoint’s patient engagement and care coordination solutions. Prior to joining PatientPoint, Dr. Nayyar served as the CMIO at AT&T and Principal Medical Officer at Vangent.

Phoenix Healthcare

Jaime Hodges returns to the global marketing research firm as Executive Vice President. Hodges has a more than 17-year background as a market researcher in and outside of pharma, and her experience with advertising tracking will continue to build the growth of the company’s suite of brand and advertising trackers, called PatientView. Prior to her return, Hodges was Pharmaceutical Category lead with Millward Brown since 2010.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals

Robert Landry will serve as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. He will be responsible for all financial functions, including Controller’s, Treasury, Financial Planning, Tax and Internal Audit. Landry brings more than 20 years of financial and operations experience in pharma. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Pfizer, Inc.
