Astellas Appoints Sandra Cifuentes to New Bogota Affiliate
Having established Astellas Farma Colombia (AFC) in June, the company announced Sandra Cifuentes as General Manager at its operating headquarters in Bogota. Cifuentes brings more than 20 years of experience to her new role, working most recently at Baxalta (now Shire) at their Colombia affiliate. She will now oversee the management and growth of all AFC’s operations in the fourth largest pharmaceutical market in the region.
According to Percival Barretto-Ko, Senior Vice President of International Operations, AFC marks a milestone for the company’s continued growth in the Americas that will allow it to serve the unmet needs of patients in the region. He says, “I’m confident that with Sandra’s deep knowledge of Colombia, extensive leadership experience, and notable commercial and market access achievements, Astellas will continue making a difference in the lives of patients.”
Announces Arthur R. Marchesini, Jr. as Managing Director. He will manage the sales and marketing of 81qd’s platforms: Acuity, Plexus, and Orion, among other analytic solutions. Marchesini possesses more than 27 years of experience in healthcare marketing and analytics. The first 12 years of his career he served in the pharmaceutical industry primarily at Merck & Company, Inc.

Names Kieran Walsh as Global Account Director to supervise GTO’s relationship with Grifols. Walsh previously worked with industry giants including Johnson & Johnson, P&G, Merck, Kraft/Heinz, Pfizer, and Sanofi. With his vast pharma and direct-to-consumer advertising experience, GTO anticipates enhancement in the agency’s global brand communications offering.
Publicis Healthcare Communications
Appoints Kipp Jarecke-Cheng as Global Chief Communications Officer. In this new role, Jarecke-Cheng will lead communications across the network’s 15 agencies, including Digitas Health LifeBrands, Langland, Publicis Health Media, Publicis Touchpoint Solutions, and Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness. Jarecke-Cheng brings more than 20 years of experience to PHCG.
Names Chris Humphreys as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Innovation. He will lead the strategic operations at its Kansas City office. Humphreys brings 15 years of experience in advertising, marketing, consumer insight, and finance, and strategy.
Welcomes David Paragamian as Managing Director in North America. Paragamian’s brand management career began at Procter & Gamble later advancing as Johnson & Johnson’s product director in the McNeil unit. He is also a published author and an adjunct professor of product management at St. Joseph’s University Erivan Haub School of Business.
Welcomes Carolyn Bertozzi, PhD to its scientific advisory board. She is well known for her groundbreaking findings in chemical biology, predominantly in cell adhesion and cell surface recognition. Dr. Bertozzi is a chemistry, radiology, and chemical system biology professor at Stanford University.
