Life Foundation Awards More Than $100k to Support Those With Infertility

CHICAGO, Sept. 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Kevin J. Lederer Life Foundation announced on September 23, 2015 that they have awarded more than $100k in Life Grants. The foundation received 85 grant applications and awarded 12 grants, which can be used to cover IVF, adoption and 3rd party reproduction, including donor egg, surrogacy and more.

The Life Grant program is open to individuals or couples residing in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana who are pursuing treatment in Illinois and are seeking to defray the costs of adoption or fertility treatment. Through Life Grants, the Life Foundation seeks to help individuals and couples achieve parenthood.

The Life Foundation was created to honor the legacy of Dr. Kevin J. Lederer and further his life mission of helping patients overcome infertility. Dr. Lederer, a well-respected and beloved physician who specialized in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, helped thousands become parents during his career.

The mission of the Kevin J. Lederer Life Foundation is to promote health and alleviate the mental and physical distress of persons and couples diagnosed with infertility through education and financial assistance. The foundation is supported by the following partners: Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago, Advanced Reproductive Center, Center for Reproductive Health, Fertility Centers of Illinois, InVia Fertility, IVF1 and the Reproductive Medicine Institute, along with Ballard, Desai & Miller and Conceive Abilities.

Drs. Eve Feinberg and Jenny Hirshfeld-Cytron, founders of the Life Foundation and physicians at Fertility Centers of Illinois, believe the foundation fills a critical need in the local infertility community.

“Many in our community long to become parents, but struggle with the financial demands of treatment or adoptions,” says Dr. Hirshfeld-Cytron. “The Life Grants can help ease that burden for those hoping to build a family of their own.”

“We are thrilled to be able to help couples and individuals in their journey to parenthood,” says Dr. Jared C. Robins of Northwestern Fertility and Reproductive Medicine.  ”The Life Grants can make a difference in the lives of many local families.”

The Life Foundation raises additional funds through the annual “Run for Life” 5K, which was held on September 20, 2015 in Glenview. The Life Foundation will begin accepting new applications for Life Grants on April 1, 2016.
