inVentiv Health Focuses on Patient-Centric Innovations at Biotech Showcase 2017

inVentiv Health, kicked off the year by moderating two panels at the annual Biotech Showcase event series in San Francisco, focused on areas of opportunity for pharmaceutical marketers.

The three-day event series, which includes Digital and Medtech tracks, runs parallel to the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. The conference serves as an investor and industry networking event where biotech-investment deals are initiated that directly impact innovation and drug development for the coming year.

The inVentiv panels spotlighted ways patient insights, data, and digital tools can lead to better compliance and patient and payer communications.

The first-day plenary session moderated by David Thompson, PhD discussed real-world evidence, which has gained increased buzz due to its inclusion in the 21st Century Cures Act. The panelists discussed how the rich data and insights can be especially valuable if gathered early in the process. “It allows you to take that journey with the patient,” said Jamie Heywood, Co-Founder and Chairman, PatientsLikeMe.

The following day, Lita Sands led a discussion with fellow industry veterans about how to scale up the promise of digital medicine. Panelists discussed how despite the fact that digital medicine has grown exponentially since the launch of the first smartphone a decade ago, there remains work to do to fully realize the potential of these ubiquitous devices to improve disease management. The panelists encouraged digital technology developers and marketers to start with the human element through ethnography and workflow observations before diving into technology design.
