Since 1954, Cannes Lions has been one of the world’s biggest celebrations of creativity in communications, but this year the organizers added a separate festival just for healthcare. The inaugural Lions Health brought together more than 800 people from 50 countries at the famous Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France from June 13th to 14th. The festival included presentations from inspirational speakers tackling some of the key issues in healthcare communications as well as the world’s largest healthcare communications awards.
In its first year, 66 Lions were awarded from over 1,400 entries across Pharma and Health and Wellness categories (see the full list below). Additionally, a Grand Prix for Good, which rewards work made for charities or non-profits, was given to Leo Burnett Colombia for their Cancertweets campaign on behalf of the League Against Cancer in Bogota. An Agency of the Year and Network of the Year were also chosen based on a points system. Each company received points for being shortlisted for an award and additional points for actually winning an award. This year’s top agency was the U.K.-based Langland while Leo Burnett was named the top network.
