Great Change Gives Birth to Great Innovation

Whether it’s the advent of precision medicine, the new physician corporation, or the need to create client-agency marriages that can endure over the long haul, the pharma industry is responding to the rapid evolution of the healthcare environment with keen insight, creative thinking and product and marketing innovation. Many have long grappled with the big changes occurring, and a look at these stories will convince you that pharma has come a long way since the whispers of change were first voiced not too long ago.

Nowhere was that insight, creativity and the will to innovate more noticeable than at our latest Trailblazer Awards Gala, held September 18th at NYC’s stunning Gotham Hall. PM360’s judges were faced with an onslaught of outstanding submissions. To honor as many as we could who had thoroughly thought “beyond the pill” and “outside of the box” (yes, both), we created Gold and Silver awards for the Initiative categories—resulting in a splendid and more inclusive celebration of our industry’s best.

In fact, we could say that this Trailblazer event—sold out and practically standing room only—was not only our biggest, but also our brightest. The luminaries who graced our gala event stage, from the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Ron Pantello, Founder of Lally, McFarland & Pantello and Former CEO and Chairman of Euro RSCG Life Worldwide, to the founder of a company helping to fund development of a medical device to help armed forces personnel with traumatic brain injuries, Montel Williams, spoke passionately about the industry’s greatest achievements to date—in not only improving or creating new products and new methods of communications outreach, but also in an absolute commitment to improving health outcomes and the lives of patients every day.

In this issue, we invite our readers to meet all of the 2014 Trailblazer Winners—the 16 Brand Champions, the Companies of the Year, the Marketer of the Year, our Initiative winners—and our esteemed judges. Then join us for a whirlwind tour of the event, starting with our Brand Champion dinner at NYC’s David Bouley Restaurant, our multi-faceted celebration at Gotham Hall and even the 1st Annual DTP Conference hosted by Health Monitor Network and PM360.

We’d also like to thank all of our sponsors who added so much to this great event—Dudnyk, Health Monitor Network, Havas Health, Lifescript, MediScripts, Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, The Snow Companies—and a special thanks to Makovsky + Company who helped us spread the word far and wide!

Cheers!
