“Grabbing Drinks” Is Becoming Non-Alcoholic

The rise of sober culture has been undeniable the past few years, with major beer companies such as Corona, Heineken, and others creating zero-proof beers alongside new startups producing calming mocktails for the home, such as Kin Euphorics or Seedlip. Some mocktail companies use antioxidants, CBD, and other ingredients that claim to make their drinks relaxing and tipsy-free, so you can get all the benefits of enjoying a drink with friends without the hangover. We found a few drinks that are all the (anti) buzz right now.

Kin Euphorics

The Lightwave drink contains botanics that calm the nervous system and counterbalance stress, including reishi mushroom, L-Theanine, and L-Tryptophan. The company website likens the sensation to “naked forest bathing at midnight.” Meanwhile, Kin Spritz is a carbonated beverage infused with caffeine, adaptogens, and nootropics that will give you a midday boost just as well as it lifts your mood at the end of the day.

Seedlip

Seedlip Non-Alcoholic Spirits are served in some bars and are available in stores. It is the first distilled non-alcoholic spirit created by adding only a bit of grain alcohol at the beginning of distillation (which is later removed) to bring out flavors of other botanicals. Their website offers a host of adult-friendly, sophisticated mocktails that can be made using their craft spirits.

Athletic Brewing

For craft beer lovers trying to ditch the booze, Athletic Brewing created the Run Wild IPA. It promises not to be watery and tasteless like other zero-alcohol brews as it is made with a blend of hops resulting in a malty body that offers the closest taste one can get to complex IPAs without the alcohol.

De Soi

Katy Perry and Morgan McLachlan started their non-alcoholic aperitifs company, De Soi, inspired by the French ideal of pleasure and restraint. De Soi produces three drinks, all filled with natural botanicals and adaptogens to relax the mind and combat nervous system stress. Champignon Dreams is perhaps the most popular of the three flavors and includes green tea, passion flower, and reishi mushroom, and undertones of fruitiness.

Jeng

Jeng “cocktails”  taste like a Moscow mule, gin and tonic, or Paloma with the alcohol replaced by 11 mg of broad-spectrum hemp in each can. The drinks won’t make you drunk or high, instead the infused CBD can induce feelings of relaxation and calmness.

Giesen

For those who prefer a glass of wine, New Zealand-based Giesen has created the zero-alcohol Sauvignon Blanc you’ve been waiting for. The winery starts with its traditional white wine and removes the alcohol via a “spinning cone technology.” The wine does hold on to its citrusy and fruity flavors, making for a refreshing, light drink without the hangovers and headache.
