Fairmont Hospital Announces RehabCare Partnership to Enhance Rehabilitation Services

SAN LEANDRO, Calif., Jan. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Fairmont Hospital, a member of Alameda Health System (AHS) specializing in care for patients with severe stroke, brain and multiple trauma injuries, today announced a five-year partnership agreement with RehabCare, a subsidiary of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., to provide for the management and development of AHS’s Acute Rehabilitation Services.

As one of the nation’s top providers of acute rehabilitation services, Fairmont Hospital has already earned a Four-Star Overall Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for consistent quality and excellence. Through this partnership, RehabCare will manage and support Fairmont’s 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit while AHS will continue to provide all nursing, therapy, and social services staff.

“RehabCare provides a level of expertise and experience that will allow us to quickly and efficiently see measurable gains in the delivery of our rehabilitation services, and a reduction of costs while enhancing our patient care,” said James E.T. Jackson, Chief Administrative Officer of AHS. “Working with RehabCare is part of AHS’s continuing commitment to ensure that Fairmont remains one of the best acute rehabilitation providers in the country.”

The RehabCare team will help Fairmont Hospital broaden the availability of clinical services, provide stronger clinical outcomes, lower operational costs and drive a high-performing rehabilitation department.

“Fairmont Hospital has a long-standing reputation for clinical excellence, innovation in patient care and outstanding quality outcomes,” said Rachel Compton, RehabCare’s Regional Vice President, West Region. “We are excited about the opportunity to enhance the rehabilitative services provided at Fairmont Hospital as we implement programs tailored to meet the needs of patients and staff.”
