ELITE 2023 Transformational Leader Jenny Yu of Healthline Media

Jenny Yu

Chief Health Officer

Healthline Media

Medical Integrity for Digital and Consumer Health

Since joining Healthline Media in 2020, Jenny Yu, MD, FACS, has been instrumental in growing and shaping Healthline’s medical network—a group of 165 medical professionals across various specialties who review every piece published on the site to confirm accuracy. The medical network is the backbone of Healthline, especially as the largest health and wellness audience in the U.S.—ensuring readers receive the highest quality health information.

Alongside her work with the medical network, Jenny also helped build an offshoot known as the Brand and Content Integrity (BCI) team. The BCI team created a vetting rubric, medical POVs, and business standards, all of which are now applied to products (editorial reviews), sales partners, and non-profit partnerships. This initiative, along with the rigorous medical review from the medical affairs team, provides readers with objective information for products in the health and wellness space to help make informed decisions.

Jenny’s impact at Healthline extends beyond her leadership of the Medical Affairs team. As the company evolves in its reach, scale, and revenue, Jenny advocates for empathy, inclusivity, and attentiveness in the digital healthcare space both internally and externally through public speaking engagements, spearheading key partnerships, and acting as the external Healthline Media brand spokesperson.

Outside of Healthline, Jenny is a co-founder of a non-profit called Project Theia, an organization focused on access to care, education, and solutions on a global scale. The organization specializes in facial reconstructive surgeries used to improve the lives of those whose life potential is impacted by a facial deformity, whether trauma or congenital. Seeing the healthcare challenges and inequity both domestically and globally first hand helps her to be informed and think creatively in solutions for both her global work and her work at Healthline Media.

Her influence at Healthline, as well as on the healthcare ecosystem as a whole, has changed and improved the way Healthline combats medical misinformation as one of the leading health information sites and helped to build the Healthline brand as a patient-/user-centered solution for all.
