An Audience-Centric Approach to Scientific Exchange

Ujwal Pyati, PhD joined Real Chemistry in 2018 to create and develop its Scientific & Medical affairs practice. In five years, he has grown that team to a 40-person, cross-functional unit dedicated to driving meaningful scientific exchange around disease states and therapies.

Before joining Real Chemistry, Ujwal put his PhD in biochemistry—with postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Oncology from the prestigious Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School—to work as both a strategic planner and copywriter.

That background allows him to engage effortlessly with Real Chemistry colleagues deeply entrenched in data science, AI, and analytics, as well as investor and public relations. As a result, he was able to leverage the best of what Real Chemistry has to offer to create a unique approach to omnichannel engagement and measurement called “Seamless Science.”

This innovative solution utilizes proprietary data and technologies to deeply understand physician preferences for content and channels, which informs messaging and visualization to deliver the right content at the right time through the right channels. For medical affairs, this is groundbreaking, particularly since the goals of this strategic function aren’t tied to sales or script lift, but rather to moving HCPs along a scientific knowledge journey.

Ujwal and his team have piloted and pioneered approaches to omnichannel engagement and measurement that are becoming standardized in areas including oncology, cardiovascular diseases, and others, and this offering now defines how the team leverages insights to drive action.

A key example: Ujwal and his team have worked successfully to raise understanding of under-diagnosed and under-managed neurologic disorders in areas such as Alzheimer’s Disease, leading to development of a consensus paper that is being prepared for publication.
