ELITE 2023 Environmental Champion Jennifer Blossom Beddingfield of Xavier Creative House

Jennifer Blossom Beddingfield

Director of HR & Sustainability

Xavier Creative House (XCH)

A Vision for Sustainable and Ethical Practices

There is no greater impact a small company can make than by using its business as a force for good, much like Jennifer Blossom Beddingfield did in transforming Xavier Creative House’s (XCH) sustainability initiatives and development goals. Since joining in 2021, she has incorporated sustainability into every aspect of XCH and provided the infrastructure for exceptional results through leadership, strategic oversight, and creativity. Sustainable and ethical practices are part of Jennifer’s vision for the agency.

To promote and formalize sustainable procurement efforts, she implemented sustainable spend tracking, assuring connection between people, planet, and prosperity to life for employees, clients, vendors, and the agency’s massive online following.

She pioneered an innovative Vendor Code of Conduct based on sustainable development goals (SDGs) like Good Health and Well-Being; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Responsible Consumption and Production; and Partnerships for the Goals, which has become the standard for maintaining a business relationship with XCH. It requires suppliers to meet standards for fair trade; financial and accounting practices; physical and emotional safety; freely chosen employment; environmental laws and regulations; and sourcing and materials.

She established an EcoProfile and achieved Green Business Bureau Platinum Certification and implemented carbon accounting software to track and offset 38,805 lbs. CO2 emissions in 2022 for Climate Leader Certification.

Instead of assuming that a virtual company’s carbon footprint was too minimal to measure, Jennifer led XCH to offset 412% of the organization’s total CO2e emissions. By engaging employees in current initiatives, she challenges them to reduce their impact on the environment and offset emissions.

So far, she has increased the organization’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) score by 22%, advancing its EcoVadis standing from Silver to Platinum, ranking XCH in the 99th percentile of over 100K businesses assessed globally from 176 industries in 200 countries. In acknowledgment of her considerable efforts, Jennifer was invited to speak on a sustainability panel at the 2023 Diversity Alliance 4 Science (DA4S) annual East Coast Conference to inspire industry peers to address the environmental, social, and economic facets of sustainable business design.
