Senior Vice President, Sales
Driving Growth No Matter the Circumstances
Scott Schappell and the Sharecare Consumer Solutions sales team were riding high heading into 2020, having capped off a banner year of revenue growth. Under Scott’s leadership, new year momentum was at its all-time best. Then a global pandemic stopped everything in its tracks. In response, his team quickly shifted gears and immediately adapted to a virtual landscape, moving the sales operation forward through innovation, a refocused strategy, and effective communication.
As the leader of a team of seasoned sellers with vast experience in pharma marketing and life sciences, Scott’s past successes in increasing revenue year-over-year, cultivating relationships, and helping evolve the Sharecare Consumer Solutions team’s position in the healthcare marketing industry enabled him to be the sales leader the team needed to weather the challenges posed by the pandemic. From virtual sales trainings, to finding new ways to engage clients, to motivating the team to stay connected and maximize value for clients, Scott’s approach resulted in another record-breaking year in 2020 with revenue growth exceeding 13%.
But Scott first helped put Sharecare’s consumer solutions on the map when he joined the company eight years ago and dove head-first into transforming the sales team. In that time, Scott helped the team excel beyond being the top sellers in lead-generation sales, eventually becoming industry leaders for selling award-winning 360° healthcare marketing programs. These programs have included first-to-market virtual reality (VR) products, high-impact sponsorships focused on personalized patient experiences, and the engagement of health influencers and advocates, whose stories and voices are amplified in impactful video solutions. Along the way, Scott led sponsorship programs that have garnered industry-wide attention, including three Digital Health Awards in 2020 for programs that raised awareness for non-small cell lung cancer, meningitis, and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C).
In 2020 alone, Scott and his team started work with 57 new brands, more than doubled the number of pharma partners, and increased the number of deals worth more than $1 million by 450%. In addition to this incredible growth, Scott has built strategic partnerships with top agencies such as Publicis Health Media, OMD, and CMI Media Group.
