ELITE 2021 PR Guru Jamie Dowd of Weber Shandwick

Jamie Dowd

North American Health Lead

Weber Shandwick

The Solution and Team Builder

For those who have had the privilege of working with her, the name Jamie Dowd is known as much for her impressive track record as it is for her investment in others. Why? She leads with solutions to solve client’s business challenges while treating those around her—clients and teams alike—with respect and a keen interest in their well-being.

This was Jamie’s calling card well before the trying times of 2020. It’s what her career is built on.

For the past 20 years, Jamie has had an indisputable impact on the business of healthcare communications. Jamie was behind the success of one of Weber Shandwick’s largest biotechnology accounts and then took over the firm’s New York health practice, transforming leadership, growing its client roster, and instilling a distinct culture. She forged a path for the firm into Philadelphia and significantly expanded lines of partnership with Boston—contributing to a momentum and resolve that expanded the firm’s work with some of the most credible healthcare organizations.

One of her signature achievements is fostering a cross-agency, cross-disciplinary model for the public relations firms within Weber Shandwick’s parent company, Interpublic Group. Officially formed for a global healthcare client partner, Jamie deepened relationships with other IPG agency leaders to build bespoke teams to deliver on the promise of the model.

In 2020, Jamie was named the Health Lead for North America—the first such role within the firm, and acknowledgment of Jamie’s steadfast leadership of Weber Shandwick’s enormously successful healthcare offering in the region.

Jamie lends generous time to industry organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association—and she mentors students from her beloved alma mater, Georgetown University.

She balances career, community involvement, and her three children with grace, drive, and dignity. She continues to serve as a role model for rising talent within Weber Shandwick’s healthcare practice, consistently caring and supporting employees, and being a living example that a healthy work/life balance is possible.
