Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications
The Industry’s Beating Heart
For 20 years, Wendy Blackburn has been an instrumental force propelling the industry forward, and last year was no different. In fact, Wendy leveraged her leadership, public relations background, experience in digital marketing, and vast knowledge of the healthcare industry, to support Intouch client organizations, employees, the community, and the broader life sciences industry when they needed it most.
To help the industry during the pandemic, Wendy was inspired by her board membership with Heart to Heart International (HHI) to spur a partnership with Intouch Group to support the fight against COVID-19 with monetary donations, infection prevention and control (IPC) training, and a hygiene kit matching program. Due to Wendy’s leadership and ability to take fast action to make a significant impact, Intouch was one of the first companies to immediately donate funds to assist in early spring 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak. Intouch was able to fund the launch of HHI’s new IPC program available at no cost to nonprofit organizations. The training is based on guidance from the CDC and WHO, providing information to underserved populations about COVID-19 and how to prevent its spread. Through this HHI partnership that Wendy conceived, Intouch is investing in efforts every day to create a healthier world.
Additionally, Wendy spearheaded the development and publication of Intouch’s first COVID-19 related whitepaper in partnership with The Digital Health Coalition Group, The Aftermath: COVID-19 Insights and Recommendations. Intouch received an outpouring of positive feedback and demand for more, so Wendy championed the development and publication of a second COVID-19 related whitepaper, The Now & The Next in Pharma Marketing. With more than 1,200 cumulative downloads of these whitepapers to date (and growing) and eight workshops with pharma companies to revise their 2021 plans against the insights provided in the whitepapers, it has been evident that the industry desperately needed information to help them adjust during the pandemic—and Wendy was at the epicenter of providing it.
According to Faruk Capan, Intouch Group CEO, “Wendy truly lives and breathes our Intouch purpose, No Challenge Too Big To Cure, through her efforts to support the pharma industry…especially during COVID.”
