A Fast-Rising Star
Despite being a relatively recent college graduate, Julie D’Ascenzo is not just a leader of the future. She’s a leader of today. Julie started her career at West Pharmaceutical Services as a summer intern in college, which eventually lead to a role in the Human Resources department. In this position, she led the internship program, which included recruiting, organizing, and managing approximately 30 interns to ensure that their time at West was profitable for both the intern and the organization.
Within a year, she took a sales role, where she grew her year over year sales by 31% in her first full year and overachieved territory growth by 15%. Her next promotion elevated her two levels up, skipping a rung on the standard career ladder at West and assuming her current role as Account Manager, Biologics in which she is responsible for growing her book of business.
While she has been busy achieving her sales goals (and completing her MBA at Villanova University), Julie has also been hand-picked to lead different projects at West. She was elected to a one-year term leadership role within their WIN (Women in Networking) group as their Engagement Committee Chair. In this role, she led a team of volunteers who were responsible for planning and executing various events throughout the year. Julie was also selected through a global nomination process across 7,500 employee candidates to serve as an “Innovation Ambassador” at West. In this role, Julie was responsible for teaching others in the organization best practices and tools to ideate, innovate, and create new opportunities for growth for West.
Julie has also risen up the ranks within the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Organization. Joining as a volunteer on the Marketing Committee immediately after she graduated, she received a regional HBA Spark Award in 2017 for effort and impact in this role. In January 2020, Julie not only became the Regional Director of Tomorrow’s Executives program, she is the one leading the formation of this new group with the mission of helping to promote the professional advancement and impact of young professionals in the business of healthcare in the Greater Philadelphia area.
