Bringing Effectiveness in Physician Advertising
Harshit Jain, MD, MBA, joined the advertising industry with a single-minded objective: To re-inject Idea Centricity into the work. Healthcare marketing is one of the most complex specialized disciplines. To Harshit, the unique opportunity it offers is to go beyond traditional marketing and craft campaigns that are anchored in purpose, and to create platforms that can disrupt this traditional healthcare marketing to modern data-driven marketing.
He cut his teeth at the big advertising agencies including McCann, where he held a series of positions including Country Head, Marketing Director & Innovation Lead in Asia, Europe, and Americas. While there he helped to develop several innovative campaigns, including “The Immunity Charm” for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health. This campaign turned a simple thread into a tool to improve vaccination compliance and help doctors keep track of a child’s immunization history, thereby improving a country’s immunization and controlling infant mortality, as well as changing the perception of the government to a more progressive one. It is one of the most awarded campaigns ever in the history of healthcare advertising. Harshit also assisted with “The Door Blouse” campaign, which was aimed at educating rural women about the importance of breast self-exam and instilling an attitudinal shift by making self-checks a practice as easy as opening a door.
Overall, his approach to marketing has led him to be awarded Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Good; India’s first Black Pencil at D&AD Awards; One Show’s first-ever Best of Discipline Award in Health, Wellness & Pharma category; 40 Under 40 APAC marketing-communications achievers; 2017 Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders of the Year by the World Marketing Congress; and more.
Most recently, Harshit founded the New Jersey-based Doceree, which is trying to address the problem of rising cost of healthcare by bringing efficiency and effectiveness to healthcare marketing by using data and creativity. To accomplish this, Doceree developed the world’s first programmatic Ad Exchange exclusively for advertising to healthcare professionals. The company believes this platform can help to reduce healthcare marketing expenditures from 25% to 15%, and hence contribute towards economic prosperity in the industry.
