Vice President/General Manager, Specialty Services
Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions
Bringing an Emerging Business to Scale
After spending nearly 20 years in financial management roles at Cardinal Health, Jennifer Fillman was named Vice President/General Manager of Specialty Services in 2014. At the time, Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions had an emerging biopharma services business, established following Cardinal Health’s acquisitions of P4 Healthcare and Sonexus Health. Jennifer was tasked with transforming the company’s nascent capabilities into a thriving biopharma services business. Over the last four and a half years, that is exactly what she has done.
Under Jennifer’s leadership, 3PL Services has more than doubled its customer portfolio, achieved double-digit revenue growth, and grown its team by 175% since 2015. Additionally, Sonexus Access and Patient Support has expanded its client roster to include several top 20 pharma companies and blockbuster brands and recently opened a second building in Lewisville, TX to support its growth. And since 2015, the Real-World Evidence and Insights business has built a robust HEOR capability, publishing more than 130 abstracts, 112 posters, and 40 manuscripts.
Jennifer also guided the development and launch of innovative new offerings, including the ConnectSource hub services platform (a next-generation, cloud-based platform which streamlines patient access and provides data-driven insights on interactions throughout the patient journey); the 3PL Title Model (which enables biopharma companies to leverage the warehousing, distribution, and order-to-cash management capabilities of Cardinal Health while reducing their risk to help get their products to market faster); and the Oncology Provider Extended Network (OPEN), which is a proprietary network of oncologists that biopharma clients can tap into to access data and insights, enable research opportunities, and share promotional content.
Additionally, Jennifer led the development of a coordinated service offering for manufacturers of CAR-T therapies to address the clinical, logistical, and administrative challenges of bringing these complex treatments to market.
“From her support and encouragement in expanding our facilities to developing new capabilities and being creative in changing our operational structures, Jennifer knew what we would need to position the business for the future while delivering a high level of quality to our customers,” says Joel Wayment, Vice President of 3PL Services. “Her guidance ultimately helped us to become the market leader in our space.”
