Bringing Value to Market Access and Reimbursement

Back in early 2000, most of the large marketing and communication agencies had a single person within their group that had managed markets knowledge—today that is unthinkable. Lee Termini initiated that shift by helping to grow one of the premier market access agencies—MediMedia Managed Markets (MMMM), now U.S. Market Access & Reimbursement at ICON plc. Lee and his senior leadership team built a consultancy in the managed markets/access and reimbursement space focused on creating and demonstrating product value to healthcare decision makers. And since 2015, Lee has been helping the company to grow its global presence as well as expand in the U.S.

One initiative that Lee was instrumental in developing was the Medical Director Forum (MDF), a closed-loop social media platform for medical directors in the U.S. When it was apparent that health plan medical directors did not have an organization that catered to their needs, Lee pushed the Field of Dreams approach believing that if they built it, the medical directors would come. Today, MDF membership consists of more than 600 medical directors that interact, discuss common issues, and find solutions to their unique problems. Medical directors from the hospital segment, ACOs, behavioral health organizations, payers, and the VA interact in this space.

Another of Lee’s major accomplishments was his invaluable role in the 2015 acquisition of MMMM by ICON plc., a union that strengthened ICON’s expertise in commercialization and outcomes, and was a natural step in MMMM’s evolution. The acquisition united MMMM with four legacy organizations in this space—Oxford Outcomes, PriceSpective, the CHC Group, and the Mapi Group—to create ICON Access, Commercialisation & Communications (ACC), the industry’s only integrated provider of strategic and tactical services for commercial and medical affairs teams.
