The Personification of a Leader
“Jane Richter embodies all the qualities I believe a mentor should have,” says Karen L. Campbell, CMPP of Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide (OCHWW). “She leads by example, provides the appropriate level of guidance, is encouraging and supportive, she shows a personal interest in all of her team members, and she makes coming to work every day FUN! Watching and learning from her helped me grow and become the leader that I am today.”
That is the type of reaction that Jane elicits from many of her employees and colleagues at OCHWW. Craig Gelband, PhD calls her “the personification of a leader” and “a model for the next generation of account manager.” While Chaitna Kuchinsky says: “Many women in leadership positions struggle to be both assertive and approachable; Jane does not. I aspire to have the same mix of warmth, patience, and competence that she does.”
Jocelyn Masin tells a story that reflects just how dedicated Jane is to her team.
“Jane is caring and loyal and no one will out work her to gain client satisfaction,” Masin explains. “Her staff is top-shelf and a testament to her hard work, customer focus, and never-ending dedication. I recall one time when we lost an account due to procurement consolidation, Jane did everything in her power to try to find positions within Ogilvy for everyone on her team so that no one would lose his or her job. And she was successful!”
And as Jane took on a fight with breast cancer, her colleagues found another reason to be in awe of her.
“The way Jane handled an illness and very scary and challenging time in her life was truly inspiring and admirable,” Campbell says. “She remained positive and upbeat, barely missed work, and demonstrated true courage during that time.”
In addition to serving as a mentor to those on her team, Jane applies her talents as a mentor to support the Ogilvy CommonHealth Mentor program serving both junior and mid-level talent. She is also a two-time Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) mentor, in which she partners with other accomplished mentors in the industry to support the mentorship needs of woman across all healthcare disciplines.
