John Canevari has been leading and championing teams who drive technological innovation since he formed the first internal creative agency for IBM in 1988. While there, he developed user-centric design standards—a theme that would recur throughout his entire career.

Always with an eye toward designing digital experiences that put the user at the center, John built an organization of more than 50 designers, creative directors, writers, user experience directors, and information architects for the East Coast offices of imc2. At that time, he observed an industry-wide need for stronger integration of digital and strategic capabilities, so he co-founded an agency that focused specifically in that area—Triumph360, which was acquired within two years by TargetCast. 

With those accomplishments under his belt, John next lead Grey Healthcare’s global creative as their CCO. While in this position, he impacted Grey’s own digital transformation and influenced an array of pharmaceutical clients adopting new technologies at an ever-increasing pace. The next vista in John’s journey was mobile. As Executive Creative Director and Strategy Lead at Bottle Rocket NY, John led teams to deliver experiences that were tailored to the mobile customer.

Since joining The Bloc, John continues his more than 25 years in the business by elevating the standards for excellence in service of his teams and his clients. As SVP, Director of Digital Experience and Technology, John is seamlessly integrating 360° capabilities into forward-thinking and effective creative health solutions. Among his recent accomplishments: Helping a key client reach new levels of customer centricity, starting from within their organization all the way through to delivery to their end users. With a client roster that has included Pfizer, GSK, Janssen, Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Gilead, Otsuka, and BMS over the course of his career, John has always stayed hungry for what’s next.

A true renaissance man both within his professional career as well as in his personal life, John is an ICC-certified wine and olive oil sommelier, as well as the owner of two olive oil retail tasting rooms in upstate New York.
