HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of 7 new physicians to its Divisions of Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Hematology & Oncology, Neonatology, Pulmonary, and Digestive Diseases, Hepatology & Nutrition.
Emilee Colella, MD, joined the Division of Hospital Medicine at Connecticut Children’s. Dr. Colella comes to Connecticut Children’s from Children’s National Medical Center, where she completed an internship and residency in pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with the highest distinction, and earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
Henry P. Chicaiza, MD, joined the Division of Emergency Medicine at Connecticut Children’s. Dr. Chicaiza returns to Connecticut Children’s where he completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine. Prior to this, Dr. Chicaiza completed his pediatric residency at Baystate Medical Center/ Tufts University School of Medicine. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College in New York and earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School.
Clare O’Keefe, MD joined the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Dr. O’Keefe returns to Connecticut Children’s, where she served as Chief Resident of the University of Connecticut Pediatrics Residency Program. She graduated with honors from the University of Delaware with a degree in Biological Science and received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
James E. Moore, MD, PhD, joined Connecticut Children’s as chief of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Moore comes to Connecticut Children’s from Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where he served as the Director of their Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Moore received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Syracuse University and earned his Masters of Science, Doctor of Philosophy, and Medical Degree from Emory University. He completed his pediatric residency at UT Southwestern Medical School and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he was also named Chief Fellow.
Sumith Rao Madhavarapu, DO, joined Connecticut Children’s Division of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Madhavarapu returns to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center where he completed his pediatric residency. Prior to this, he received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Madhavarapu completed a post-baccalaureate program at University of Texas-Arlington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Baylor University in Texas.
Anne V. McLaughlin, MD joined the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Connecticut Children’s. Dr. McLaughlin completed both her pediatric residency and pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Connecticut Children’s. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College and her Master of Arts from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. McLaughlin earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University.
Peter Townsend, MD, joined the Division of Digestive Diseases, Hepatology & Nutrition at Connecticut Children’s. Dr. Townsend comes to Connecticut Children’s from Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology. Prior to this, he completed a pediatric residency at Tufts Medical Center Floating Hospital for Children. Dr. Townsend graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Science and received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
