Connecticut Children’s & CHDI to Host Infant Mental Health Webinar on October 29

HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in collaboration with The Child Health and Development Institute of Connecticut’s Educating Practices in the Community program (EPIC) will hold a webinar on Social & Emotional Health and Development in Infants on Thursday, October 29 at 12:15pm. The webinar will be presented by Gerald Calnen, MD, retired, board certified pediatrician and current board member of the Connecticut Association for Infant Mental Health.

Healthy, social and emotional development relies on the early relationships between babies and their parents and caregivers. The quality of these early relationships provides the foundation for a child’s social, emotional and cognitive development and lifelong mental health.

Early identification and intervention for infants at risk for developing social and emotional or behavioral problems is critical to the health and well-being of children and can minimize long-term consequences.

The free, educational webinar will include:

  • AAP guidelines for screening and anticipatory guidance
  • Monitoring questions that pediatricians can use in well-child visits
  • Formal screening options and procedure codes for obtaining reimbursement
  • Community mental health resources to help families who need services

A 15-minute Q &A will follow.

Webinar participants will be eligible to receive 1 MCE credit upon completion of an evaluation form. To learn more or to register, please visit www.ctchildrenswebinar.com.
