15 Largest U.S. Medical Groups
Three of the top 15 medical groups are in California, with just one in New York State, in the Bronx. The only other state to have more than one group in the ranking is North Carolina, with group practices in Charlotte and Winston-Salem.

Universal Shot
Antibodies from people infected with the 2009 H1N1 swine flu strain may be the key to developing a one-shot-fits-all flu strain vaccine. Researchers from the University of Chicago and the Emory University School of Medicine found that survivors of the H1N1 flu pandemic developed antibodies capable of protecting them from a wide variety of flu strains, including all of the seasonal H1N1 strains from the past decade, the Spanish flu strain from 1918 and a strain of the H5N1 avian flu, according to results published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
FDA UPDATE
The FDA unveiled a plan with 25 actions it intends to implement in 2011 to improve the most common path to market for medical devices. Key actions include streamlining the “de novo” review process for certain innovative, lower-risk medical devices; clarifying the premarket notification submission process; and the establishment of a Center Science Council of senior FDA experts to assure timely and consistent science-based decision making. , and more
