Brad L. Stewart, the president of Cylex, has been appointed the company's CEO and Chairman of the Board. Based in Columbia, MD, the venture-backed life sciences company manufactures research and in vitro diagnostic products. As President since 2007, Stewart has led Cylex’s expansion to 18 countries and substantial revenue growth.

Indianapolis, IN-based Eli Lilly has named the leaders of its Development Center of Excellence and five business units. Tim Garnett, MD, and Tom Verhoeven, PhD, will head the Lilly Research Labs’ Center of Excellence. Garnett is Lilly’s CMO and Senior Vice President of Global Medical, and Verhoeven is Senior Vice President of Global Product Development. John H. Johnson, currently CEO of Lilly subsidiary ImClone Systems, will lead the oncology business unit. Enrique A. Conterno, President of Lilly USA, will be in charge of the diabetes business unit. The established markets business unit is now in the hands of Bryce D. Carmine, Lilly’s current Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales. Jacques Tapiero, Lilly's President of the Intercontinental Region, will head the emerging markets business unit. Finally, Jeffrey N. Simmons will continue to lead Elanco, the animal health business unit, where he currently serves as President.

Swiss drugmaker Roche announced an enlarged Corporate Executive Committee. Pascal Soriot, currently CEO of Genentech, was appointed COO of the Pharma Division. Ian Clark leaves his position as Head of Global Product Strategy Pharma to succeed Soriot as CEO of Genentech. Daniel O’Day, current Head of Roche Molecular Diagnostics, is appointed COO of the Diagnostics Division and a member of the Executive Committee. Jean-Jacques Garaud also joins the committee and assumes responsibility for Roche Pharma Research and Early Development.

Publicis Strategic Solutions Group named Richard S. Lev, JD, Chief Compliance Officer to oversee the Corporate Compliance Program and ensure that the company and its employees meet all legal and regulatory requirements. The Lawrenceville, NJ-based group provides multichannel message delivery solutions for the life sciences industry. Lev most recently was Senior Counsel for Hoffmann-La Roche and held positions previously with the FDA, Pharmacia, Organon Pharmaceuticals, and Biovail Pharmaceuticals.

Sanjay Pingle was named President of Physicians Interactive, a leading digital sales and marketing partner for life sciences companies. He is responsible for developing new digital marketing tools, products, and services. Pingle was the co-founder and Executive Vice President of Medsite and served as Vice President at WebMD after its purchase of Medsite.

TargetRx is adding two members to its management team who will be responsible for expanding the company’s pharma and biotech client base. Dave Dornstreich, the new Vice President of Business Development, brings more than 20 years of pharma and healthcare experience in sales, marketing, and product development. His prior position was Vice President of Sales for i3 Pharma Informatics, where he led the organization’s start-up. David Deutsch, the new Vice President of Client Service and Development, most recently served as senior principal and oncology thought leader at IMS Health.
