Jitendra N. Doshi has stepped in as interim CEO of Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories in Detroit, MI, following the resignation of Daniel H. Movens. Doshi will also serve on the board of directors. He previously headed Caraco from 2003 to 2005. For the past three years, Doshi was Sun Pharmaceutical Industries’ Executive Director. Caraco develops and manufactures generic and private-label pharmaceuticals to wholesalers, distributors, drugstore chains, and managed-care providers.

After serving as EVP of Sales and Marketing at FlowCardia, Chris Barys has been promoted to COO. FlowCardia is a Sunnyvale, CA-based developer of endovascular devices for the treatment of chronic total occlusions; its flagship product is the Crosser Catheter. Barys will assume responsibility for R&D, quality, clinical, and regulatory functions in addition to sales and marketing.

Altum, a CommonHealth company, has filled several senior positions with new hires and a promotion. After three years as art director, Darah Semancik has earned the title of Senior Art Director. Her main focus will be development of print media for oncology clients. Joining the Parsippany, NJ-based company are Jenifer Saydah and Kin Lee. Saydah comes from Integrated Communications, where she worked as SVP, Group Account Supervisor. As SVP, Mangement Supervisor, at Altum, she will oversee all marketing functions. Formerly a business manager at DraftFCB Healthcare, Lee will estimate client and project budgets as Senior Business Manager.

Birmingham, AL-based Atherotech appointed Michael Cobble, MD, as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Cobble is a lipidologist, certified hypertension specialist, and director of Canyons Medical Center in Sandy, UT. Atherotech developed and markets the VAP (Vertical Auto Profile) Cholesterol Test, which reports on five times as many blood components as standard lipid testing.

Former Senior Group Director of Sales Craig C. Phillips steps up to VP and General Manager of the Oncology Business Unit at Cephalon, a Frazer, PA-based biopharmaceutical company focusing on inflammatory diseases, the central nervous system, pain, and oncology. Phillips’s responsibilities include all aspects of Cephalon’s oncology business in the U.S.

CVS Caremark in Woonsocket, RI, has named Andrew J. Sussman, MD, President and COO of MinuteClinics, its retail-based health clinic subsidiary with 500 locations in 25 states, as well as SVP and Associate Chief Medical Officer of CVS Caremark, starting September 1. Dr. Sussman, former COO of UMass Memorial Medical Center, will oversee all clinical services and daily operations as MinuteClinics expands. CVS Caremark is the country’s largest prescription provider, with more than 1 billion scripts filled or managed annually. MinuteClinics has treated 4 million patients since its inception in 2000.

Greg Zdechlik joins Exosome Diagnostics in New York, NY, a developer of noninvasive molecular oncology diagnostics for early cancer detection and therapeutic selection, as COO. The former Roche Diagnostics exec will lead commercial relations, diagnostic development, and product introduction, including Exosome’s new blood-based EGFR, KRASm, and BRAF assays.

Cincinnati, OH-based CRO Kendle International appointed Stephen Cutler, PhD, SVP and COO. Cutler joins Kendle
following 14 years with Quintiles, where he most recently was SVP, Global Project Management, with responsibility for more than 600 people and 500 active projects spanning all therapeutic areas. Kendle is a global provider of Phase I through IV services with experience in more than 100 countries.

Daniel E. Leone has taken on the position of VP of Business Development at Princeton NJ-based Laureate Pharma,
a biopharmaceutical development and protein production company specializing in monoclonal antibodies and recombinant protein products. Leone will oversee worldwide business development, including sales and marketing. He joins Laureate from Ben Venue Laboratories, where he was Executive Director of Contract Manufacturing.

In Warren NJ, MonoSol Rx, a drug delivery company specializing in dissolving thin film pharmaceutical products, welcomes Theodore “Ted” Clemente, Jr., as VP of Business Development. For the past 12 years, Clemente was Director of Global Business Development and Licensing at Novartis Consumer Health. Among his accomplishments there were acquiring exclusive U.S. rights for OTC Prevacid and a licensing and supply agreement for Triaminic.

Mylan, a diversified generic and specialty pharmaceutical company in Pittsburgh, PA, announced changes to its executive team. Former COO Heather Bresch, a 17-year veteran of the company, has been promoted to President. Rajiv Malik, onetime head of Global Technical Operations, was named COO. From Teva Pharmaceuticals, where he served as EVP, Timothy B. Sawyer joins Mylan as SVP of Strategic Corporate Development.

PCI Synthesis of Newburyport, MA, a custom chemical manufacturer, has hired J. Gregory Reid as corporate VP of Technology. Reid will head R&D as well as the technical development of PCI’s pipeline of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. Reid is the former Executive VP of Process & Scale Up at Sai Advantium, one of India’s leading contract research companies.

Topin & Associates has hired Amy Juel as Senior Project Manager and Darcy Ross as Senior Manager of Digital Communications. Most recently, Juel worked as an account director at VSA Partners. Prior to joining Topin, Ross was an interactive producer at Goble & Associates. Topin is a healthcare marketing communications agency based in Chicago, IL.

Somerset, NJ-based inVentiv Health, a provider of commercialization services to the healthcare and pharma industries, has established inVentiv Japan in Tokyo, naming Dan Feldman Director of Sales Operations there. Prior to joining inVentiv, Feldman served as VP of Sales at Merck-Banyu in Japan. inVentiv Selling Solutions, another division, named Maggie Helmig SVP of Business Development. Most recently, Helmig was President of Eden Communications.

Carbon, a CommonHealth advertising agency in Parsippany, NJ, recently announced some promotions. Jacquelyn Deubert advanced from Senior Business Manager to Associate Director of Production. Vicki Fiarman also becomes Associate Director of Production from her former title of Senior Production Manager.
