Joe Jimenez, head of the pharmaceuticals division of Novartis since 2007, has been named CEO. Jimenez oversaw several promising new medicines including multiple sclerosis pill Gilenia and cancer drug Afinitor. He previously worked for the H.J. Heinz Company in Europe and the United States.

Eric Rowinsky has joined RRD International, where he will oversee oncology product development. Previously, he was Executive VP and Chief Medical Officer at ImClone Systems for five years, and since 1996 had been Director
of the Institute of Drug Development of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio.

Gwendolyn Powell Painter has been named Chief Medical Officer of Chimerix, a biotechnology company, where she will be responsible for clinical strategy and for development of proprietary antiviral medicines. Previously, she served as Medical Director at GlaxoSmithKline, where she had responsibility for worldwide antiviral clinical safety.

Christine Côté and John Loucks have joined PDR Network, a distributor of FDA-approved drug information, as Chief Medical Officer and VP of Sales, respectively. Côté has more than 24 years of experience at Johnson & Johnson and Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, where she held several senior positions including Chief Scientific Officer for J&J’s Janssen Pharmaceutica division. Loucks was previously Chief Customer Officer for Relsys, a drug safety solutions company.

Kristin Furman has rejoined LyonHeart Communications as VP, Account Supervisor, Business Development. Before returning to LyonHeart, Furman spent a year at Regan Campbell Ward-McCann in San Diego. LyonHeart also hired Dylan Maiden as Copy Supervisor and Amanda Santise and Shoshana Carter as Senior Account Executives.

Jeffrey Abrams has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transdel Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company. Abrams is the founder of the company and a current board member. He practiced as a primary-care clinician for more than 20 years.

Gary J. Beeman has been named CEO and President of GeneLink BioSciences, a consumer biotechnology company. Beeman previously served as a founder and CEO of Bay Hill Ventures, a private capital firm, and has served as Director of Marketing Communications for GeneWize Life Sciences. Sharon M. Tahaney has been named President of GeneWize Life Sciences, a direct marketing subsidiary of GeneLink. Tahaney was formerly Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for GeneWize.

David Krause and Thomas C. Wicks have joined Tarsa Therapeutics as Chief Medical Officer and VP Global Regulatory Affairs, respectively. Previously, Krause served as Chief Medical Officer and Senior VP and head of R&D at Zelos Therapeutics. Wicks was previously VP of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at Mt Cook Pharma.

Topica Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company, appointed Mark W. Davis as VP of Clinical Development. Previously, Davis served as head of Clinical Operations at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, developing oncology products. Prior to Onyx, he was Senior Director of Clinical Operations at Connetics, where he successfully led clinical programs for three dermatologic product approvals in the United States.

Joseph W. Angle, Jr., was named Chief Financial Officer and Lisa Beth Ferstenberg Chief Medical Officer at Accelovance, a contract research organization. Angle previously co-founded and helped manage several companies, including TherImmune Research, CommSys, and National Clinical Research Centers. Prior to joining Accelovance, Dr. Ferstenberg founded and served as CEO for Cellective Therapeutics, an immunology-focused biotech company.
