Mynx Family Addition
AccessClosure (Mountain View, CA) announced the launch of the Mynx M5, the newest device in its vascular closure line. The M5 is the only closure device delivered directly through an 5F cardiovascular sheath without enlarging the arterial hole or harming the surrounding tissue, which eliminates the need for sheath exchange, saving procedure time and money. HealthCommunities.com Acquired
MediZine (New York, NY), a consumer health education company, announced the acquisition of HealthCommunities.com, an online service providing patient education and interactive tools to consumers along with customized Websites for physician practices. The site currently receives more than 1.5 million visitors a month and is used by 2,300 practicing physicians.
Science of Sales
In this first Chinese pilot program, 24 salespeople graduated from an intensive five-day Science of Sales training session at the Huazhong University of Science & Technology in Wuhan, China. The program features sales research results based on data from 80,000 corporate and professional customers, 7,200 sales forces tracked over 18 years, and 210,000 salespeople contributed by HR Chally (Dayton, OH), a sales, talent, and leadership development company.
Agency of Record
Baxter Healthcare has selected Purohit Navigation as its agency of record to launch hylenex recombinant (hyaluronidase human injection) for hospital-based rehydration. Its product is the first and only human recombinant hyaluronidase used to facilitate subcutaneous rehydration.
Website Gold
Cadient Group (West Conshohocken, PA), a strategic interactive marketing agency serving the healthcare industry, was honored three times at the 2009 Aster Awards presented by Marketing Healthcare Today magazine. Cadient was awarded the Gold in the Website category for the www.hipreplacement.com site developed for DePuy Orthopaedics. The agency’s Symbicort consumer campaign for AstraZeneca and its Living on the Edge video explaining bipolar disorder to the AstraZeneca sales force both won Bronzes.
Branding Division
Cline Davis & Mann (New York, NY), a healthcare communication services company, announced the launch of Brand Anatomy, its newest division, focused on developing brand identities for medicines, medical devices, and healthcare services. Brand Anatomy combines the scientific, medical, and customer insights generated by CDM with consumer brand design. The division will be run by Chuck Routhier, former creative director of Landor Associates in New York, who has extensive experience building brands for companies such as BlackBerry, Burger King, and Cetaphil as well as for such pharmaceutical brands as Lipitor and Caduet.
Top Honors
Chandler Chicco Companies (New York, NY), a global network of healthcare communication companies and subsidiary of inVentiv Health, was honored at the 2009 Sabre Awards, administered by The Holmes Report. Its companies Biosector 2 and Brandtectonics nabbed Gold Sabres, the former for its work on Treanda for Cephalon and the latter for its Verenium ethanol campaign.

Physicians Interactive (Libertyville, PA), a sales and marketing partner for life sciences companies, acquired Skyscape last month, doubling its physician network by adding more than one million HCPs. Skyscape provides medical information by specialty for mobile devices in partnership with more than 50 of the top medical publishers, associations, and major medical institutions.
Secondary Data Services
TVG (Dresher, PA), a global healthcare marketing research, training, and strategic consulting firm and subsidiary of PDI, announced a new category of services to analyze and interpret secondary marketing research data. TVG’s Marketing Analytics Team offers an integration of research data from multiple sources, such as market dynamics, epidemiology data, and patient characteristics, with primary quantitative and qualitative research.
